Sisterhood is something that we greatly value. Whether your car breaks down and you need a ride or you just need someone to talk to on a rainy day, you can rely on any sister to pick you up when you're down. We love hanging out and doing fun things with each other throughout the year. This year our sisterhood chair, Parker Daniel, planned all kinds of fun things for us. Some of these events included a trip to the pumpkin patch, a potluck dinner, a bonfire, a "Galentine's Day Celebration," snow tubing, and more! Whether it's pool days, football games, movie nights, or trips to get food, we're lucky to be able to always have friends to hang with. We also enjoy sisterhood with other Panhellenic organizations at App State through joint sisterhood events such as ice cream or tie dying t shirts with other sororities. We know that in Delta Zeta we can call any one of our sisters at any time of the day and they will be there for us.

We are so proud of the service we are able to give back both on a national and local scale. We work nationally with speech and hearing organizations such as the Starkey Hearing Foundation, an organization that travels the world to provide hearing aides to those in need. Delta Zeta in 2015 nationally pledged 5 million dollars in 5 years to the Starkey Hearing Foundation. We also work with the Gallaudet University, a university specially catered to those with speech and hearing disabilities to provide them with the best possible learning experience. Locally we work with the Appalachian Communication Disorders Clinic, providing services to people in the Boone community. Our national service project is the Painted Turtle Camp, a summer camp for children with terminal illnesses to enjoy a summer full of fun activities. Our sister Elaina Young was able to volunteer there last summer and sister Hannah Czajkowski is planning to volunteer this summer.
We are so proud that this semester we had the highest amount of community service hours in our greek community and the second highest amount raised for our philanthropies in the Panhellenic community. We are able to do service and raise money by volunteering at the university bookstore at the beginning and end of each semester. We also hold events throughout the year such as our recent "Get Cheesy with DZ: Nacho Average Philanthropy Event." We also hold our Turtle Trot 5k each year and last Fall held a "Smokeout for Starkey" BBQ Dinner. Our sisters also participate in many on campus service events such as Relay for Life, the Martin Luther King Junior Challenge Day of Service, Dance Marathon, Blood Drives, and more. We are proud of all that we are able to give back as an organization each year.

Our calendar is always full of fun events throughout the semester. Each fall we have our Semi-Formal and each spring we have our formal. These are fun opportunities to get dressed up and bring a date along. We also have plenty of mixers with greek organizations throughout the year that always include a fun theme to dress up to. We have at least one date function each semester with another fun theme and the ability to bring a date along. Each home football game we have a tailgate on Duck Pond field paired with a fraternity with plenty of tailgate food. We love having App State Greek Life together before we head into the games. Socials are an awesome way to have fun with sisters and meet people in other organizations in our Greek Community.

"To my mind growth."
On October 24th, 1902, six young women at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, came together to form a sorority. These six women believed in a lifetime of sisterhood based on cherished ideals that they collectively shared. Delta Zeta was the first sorority to be formed at Miami University, at the time a primarily male dominated university!
The purpose of the Delta Zeta Sorority is to create among a group of women, a true and lasting friendship, to encourage each other in the pursuit of knowledge, and to promote values-based living and embrace social responsibility. Delta Zeta was founded on christian values and we strive to live through our values each day.

In Delta Zeta we believe in supporting one another academically. As our creed says, "To my mind, growth." Nationally, Delta Zeta awards any sister with a 4.0 GPA in one semester a pearl to add to their badge.

We offer weekly study rooms for sisters to have a place to study together in the library as well as tutors to pair with sisters taking the same courses. We also offer a Dean's List Dinner at the beginning of each semester for those who have been awarded Dean's or Chancellor's list. Three times per semester we also have a drawing for sisters who have earned A's on exams or major assignments for a Victoria's Secret gift card.

We are proud to say that Delta Zeta has 100% involvement. This means that each of our sisters participates in another club or organization on campus. Many of our sisters hold officer positions in academic clubs and honor societies as well. We are so proud of our academic accomplishments we make each year.
Panhellenic Life at App State

We are lucky at Appalachian State to be a part of a greek community. We are able to have friends in all different organizations and do fun things with other sororities. The Panhellenic community comes together frequently throughout the year. We are all together for recruitment and bid day at the beginning of the year and Greek Week at the end of the year. During Greek Week sororities and fraternities are paired together and compete in activities such as kick off, canstruction, greek games, a talent competition, and our favorite part of the year, the lip sync competition. Many of our sisters have friends not only in Delta Zeta but in other greek organizations on campus. This is something that makes Appalachian State Greek Life very unique. Follow @panhel828 on Instagram to see more about our Panhellenic community and we encourage you to sign up for Fall Panhellenic recruitment on greeks.appstate.edu. We love App State pan love!
